a little addendum about tomas jirku's first no type effort, Immaterial, which has just been released. if you like it when your techno is more intelligent than you, you'll want to check this out closely. but the mp3s are just the tip of the iceberg. a ridiculously limited series of 20 handmade-cover cd-rs is now available for you collectors out there. after that we might make an ordinary bland-jewel-case batch, but since this is uncertain (& where would you be if it weren't of uncertainty, huh?) your best bet might be to just order the whole bunch & make a big fat buck afterwards.

oh, we greedy bastards.

if you don't know tomas jirku, he's an insanely talented composer who's been influenced by such wacky people as plastikman, autechre, the basic channel / chain reaction gang, etc. get your minimalist booty rockin' yo.

& happy easter while we're at it! chocolate buzz!

pursuing the ongoing tradition of always being late even when there is no rush, no type is proud to present today tracing limelite's first single proper, The Explanation Project. a true myte affair, this has a few remixers processing a track which in fact is the actual explanation of how to process the track. solipsistic, you say? damn straight, & proud of it too. just go listen to it, & from then on follow the instructions.

in other tracing limelite news--we'd like to invite you to myte.org, the new home of myte & its numerous subsidiaries. lots of exclusive mp3s there for your enjoyment, & a new step in rendering unlikely the possibility of one single human being possessing every single mp3 ever produced by mr. limelite. & while we're at it, i should also mention that tracing limelite is going to be featured on a compilation from sfwd productions which you should look for because i have a hunch it's going to kick butt.

since i can't shut up about the new cds i keep buying, i'll mention that you should check out kid-606's don't sweat the technics for when you're in that kind of mood where what you really want is a pounding bass drum & maybe some melody although that's not a requisite. (get it from those electro-punksters vinyl communication.) -- & if afterwards you feel like turning into a giant mushroom, pole's cd2 might just be the answer. (it's distro'ed in the u.s. by matador, so every decent record store should have a copy.) there, i said it. have a good week, & be on the lookout tomorrow for tomas jirku's immaterial.

why write? this news item is going to be short.

first, darck's new release combo is now out. don't be confused: there is a full-length release as well as a single, which both go by the name hypercubal. both have so much new material it'll drive you insane. (& if you think that it's already a lot, wait... the darck one is working on 2 new albums as we speak...)

upcoming releases follow:

march 26 - tracing limelite, the explanation project single
march 30 - tomas jirku, immaterial (handmade packaging baby!)

also expect releases by transient, oeuf korreckt, asyncdrone & matrix assimilation during the month of april.

have fun downloading, & don't forget to order some of our stuff, you bums!

there, there. diablatomica's first no type appearance, a single aptly (or so we like to think) named Neu.ang, has been released today & now the world could crumble in pain & we couldn't care less. those who've been craving for new ambia dextrus material will be pleased to hear that she has contributed 2 remixes. also featured are reworkings from tracing limelite & darck, so you know this has to be a winner.

also, the track listing for the first no type compilation is slowly being built, & you should really beware not to drool until you get a glimpse of it, although there clearly is matter for drooling.

finally, stay tuned for darck's debut no type full-lengther hypercubal & its companion single, all conveniently coming out on the 16th of march.

so we're one day late again!

stackoverflow's first full-length on no type, Transfer Interrupted!, is now out & you'd better go check it out because it will rock your pants. it is also the second record from the slowly-building noisebleed series, which should see a few new releases coming out in the near future (like i don't say that every week.)

other than that, life isn't too bad in no type land. if you've noticed, we're expecting a darck combo in the middle of the month, & as an appetizer, our friend diablatomica is going to release a single with us on march 6, featuring mixes from tracing limelite, ambia dextrus & darck.

the upcoming no type compilation is definitely taking shape, with some awesome exclusive contributions from almost all the no typers. soon enough you'll be able to pre-order your copy so that you get one... who knows, maybe before the actual street date! ahhh, what can't money buy?

now onto records which have nothing to do with this label--i'd like to mention that autechre's lp5 is probably their most straightforward & catchy record since incunabula. so it's got the fucked up beats; if you're not used to them by now, you must be a pretty sad camper.

oh, & while i'm at it, pick up jake mandell's parallel processes when you get the chance. it will make your day.
