soorprise. the singles series has now started with a new recording from surfing secrets--noël breakdance 98 [001, deleted]. it includes 4 remixes & a heap of joy. these will happen every week, we hope. the no-typers are so freaking productive, gotta do something about it. so i'd say, be very much on the lookout if you want a glimpse into what's cooking, the upcoming albums, & whatnot.

incidentally, the next few weeks will see new exclusive singles from thin & period three. boy ain't that exciting. i'm being told anaesthesia is preparing something as well. (perhaps a follow-up to the beautiful part 1-2 suite from their eponymous album? nah, that'd be too much!!)

other than that, how's your christmas been? i've been sick to all hell personally, but i'm getting better, thanks. other than my stomach, many things are bubbling under the surface here at no type, so be prepared. i know i say that every damn week, but that's always true.

you gals & guys take care, & have a wonderful new year.

sure, we're ten days late in releasing the albums, but here they are, finally. i was so bored waiting i spent two days redesigning the site. i hope you like this new look. it should at least load faster. comments are welcome.

so make sure to check out the new material we have here. the new albums from tracing limelite (sub-lime [6009, deleted]), ambia dextrus (lunik-lab [6008, deleted]) & their alter egos future boy & tofu girl (unsavable [6006, deleted])--as well as napalm jazz's incredible Free transgénique, all of which are already classics in my mind, & are only waiting to be classics in yours! go get them, if you're keen with really new stuff... of course, there's always the option of getting the latest dionne warwick single instead, but we believe that in the end, you will make the right decision.

perhaps this is an appropriate time to talk of the upcoming no type compilation. right now we're still busy composing exclusive tracks for it, but you should be warned that this is going to be one hell of an event. the whole no type roster is at work, & we asked some friends to add up to it as well. the way it looks, it'll end up an all-over electro-noisefest that won't make prisoners. all this for your own enjoyment!

speaking of--we're still at this point accepting outside contributions for the compilation. if you're interested in participating, please email me.

some of you may have noticed that i'm late in releasing the new batch of records (see news items below) which was in fact due two days ago. this is due to many factors which are kind of useless to enumerate right now, but it should be fixed shortly.

in the meantime, i am going to have not one but two featured singles from free jazz wonders napalm jazz & adventurers in midget electronics future boy & tofu girl (aka tracing limelite & ambia dextrus), whose albums will be available through this site in a matter of days. so help yourself, & please excuse the lag. i think once you hear the records, you'll see it was well worth the wait.

hello. it is now official, i'm moving to montreal on early january. things may get a bit hectic, & perhaps updates won't come as often as they do, but fear not, i have no intention to forget about this site.

tracing limelite, who is just about to release his debut with us (on the 10th, remember), invites all of you to his new site, the mytelab, which features exclusive songs from him & other myte artists. (but what is myte, you ask? it's neither a genre nor a label--check out the mytelab for an answer.) the songs featured on the mytelab are all rather short & will change very often, so make sure to visit it so you don't miss a single one of them!

incidentally, this week's featured single (see rightmost column) comes straight from that site, it's the princess of myte's bang-ambient.

also, i would hit myself in the face if i forgot to mention that you should really visit the mp&g_11h.dbh! project site if you're interested in other other examples of how experimental & intelligent electronic music can spread via the mp3 format. it's like finding a treasure chest in the ocean of would-be rock stars that people mp3-oriented sites nowadays.

some of you may have noticed that the last song on the Moving Systems album was missing. there, that's fixed now.

also, the realaudio files for the 2 new albums haven't been uploaded yet. the reason for it is that my isp has some odd misconfiguration that makes every upload take ungodly amounts of time (when it doesn't simply cut off the line, that is.) that should all be fixed this week. you'll be informed.

onto other matters, we are now burning custom cd-r's. you tell us what you want, & we burn it for a fair price (to be determined, depending on the release). quite practical when you don't have the time or hd space to download whole albums, plus the profit goes directly in the artist's pocket & you're likely to get bonus tracks (if there's enough room left). email me if this sounds like something you'd go for.

speedy j is the bomb.

here's two quick news items that couldn't wait any longer (or maybe they could, but who's going to complain?)

first: raw42 is featuring an article on mp3's & their role in free music distribution in their december issue, & guess who's featured in it. check it out!

second: forgot to mention it last time, but there's a quite awesome feature on thin on the famed netradio site, which you are kindly invited to take a peek at. (it even has pictures!)

that's it, you can go download stuff now.
