everyone welcome thin, a newcomer in the no type crew, who will deliver his second album of sharp, spicy drum n bass with no added cholesterol, snap-on grooves, for a release on no type drones in january. you can get a peek of thin's work & preview his exciting upcoming album on his site.

well, i think we're set on december 10th for the next batch of releases from the myte family (tracing limelite & ambia dextrus), as well as your friends & ours napalm jazz. everybody's at work polishing everything for your listening pleasure. having heard quite an extensive preview of what's to come, i can tell that this is going to be one hell of an event. so spread the hype, because it's all true.

onto site news--the mp3 news section has been replaced by a "featured single" area, which i'll make sure won't end up as cheesy & hit-oriented as its name implies. basically, it will feature a selected song from a no type artist or someone else on the net that we dig.

we'll start this week from the surfing secrets' clearasil song, off their hysterical album Le bruit qui rend fou, which will incidentally be available soon (i would think january would be a good bet) in cd-r format for your convenience, & so you can impress your friends, family & know-it-all record store clerk! stay tuned.

remember: no type is good type. whatever that could mean.

many a news item to report, once again, from the depths of no type land. first off, y'all can expect the debut napalm jazz record to be out sometime like december 10th. or maybe earlier. & there may be more than just one album, as announced last monday. ouch.

at any rate, on whatever day the napalm jazz record comes out, mad musical scientist tracing limelite is also delivering an ep--& there, you must read extended play. no more tellin' until you encounter the real deal, except that this ep will feature ambia dextrus' special brand of warped ambient-noise & a special appearance from waveform superheroes future boy & tofu girl.

do you like numbers? with the help of massive amounts of boredom, i have compiled a "most popular songs" listing which you can browse if you are so inclined. the values are already outdated, but maybe there's a cgi genius who'll raise their hand & build me a custom chart thingie. everybody is doing it, so... hmm, so maybe i shouldn't give it that much of a thought, after all.

all this to say that we've reached the 10,000 downloads mark, & that the only thing that stands between us & global domination is a hell lot of luck.

flushed the "mp3 news" section of this page. i'll replace it soon with something else.

millions of releases are planned for the next few months, & this site is taking up all of my free time. what a happy man i am! here are the current news items, numbered for your convenience:

1) there's no set release date yet, but somewhere in the beginning of december, you'll be entitled to download not one, but two albums from prolific vinyl-benders napalm jazz. more details soon, as this will be huge.

2) tracing limelite's alter ego, future boy, is also relentlessly finishing working on his debut ep for no type for a release in early december. i am told that this release will launch a trilogy of ep's. i'm on the edge of my seat. (check out the myte site for more disinformation.)

3) no type gets (more) press: the saturday edition of montréal daily la presse had oeuf korreckt on the front page of its arts section, plus some quotes from yours truly about no type. overall, an excellent article, i'll try & see if i can include it on the site somewhere.

4) speaking of oeuf korreckt, our favorite electronician has finally gotten around to putting up his debut full-lenghter, colleckted. there is no set date for that yet, but december isn't such a crazy bet.

5) anaesthesia's song part 1 (from their eponymous release) is the first no type song to hit the 1000 downloads mark. incidentally, kaia & eric are currently recording new material. possible titles for the resulting album include "deep structure", "popsicle paintbrush", "suede feathers", & "drag your mouth". now that's what i call obscure.

there's probably more things i had to talk about, but i bet your eyes are getting tired of reading already. look for an update later this week.

welp, last time i counted, we're over 5700 downloads. sure, we're a long way to mp3.com's alleged 4 million transfers, but our site is a hell lot faster!

anaesthesia seems to be doing pretty good on the free-music site's top 40 listing. three of their songs are in there. & speaking of anaesthesia, they are currently working on a follow-up to their quite popular eponymous debut (available here.)

those living in the montréal area should check out la presse this coming saturday. there's going to be a feature on mp3's & no type in the arts section, so be on the lookout.

you can finally listen to period three's Moving Systems in realaudio. the surfing secrets realaudio files will be uploaded before or during the weekend, hopefully. apologies for the lag & the broken links.

well, it took a month to get to 2000 mp3 downloads, but only three days to make that a whopping 3000, so i take it this site is slowly but surely taking off the ground, which is a good thing.

this week, there has been a pretty exciting article about no type in voir, a montréal-based weekly. if you can read french, you may want to check it out. (if you can't, there's a possibility that i simply translate it eventually. or if you're impatient, you can just babelfish it. :)

also in the our-pals-on-the-web category, there has been a news snippet on no type on the amazing sounds 'zine, & your friend & ours jos smolder has featured a period three song, asynchronous data phase, on his excellent site, ear labs, which i recommend you to visit.

yesterday, we did the tape-to-wave recording of the debut album from napalm jazz, which is entitled free transgénique. as the name implies, it is space age free jazz for most discriminating ears, & it will be featured in the soon-to-be-launched no type laboratory.

we haven't decided on a release date for free transgénique yet, but things are most likely to happen later this month, so stay tuned.

the mailorder section will be up soon with every no type release in cd-r format & bonus joy galore.

oh, & while i'm at it, do yourself a favor & listen to transient's amazing music. that song automaton just sticks in my head, it's great.
