no type drones shifts in high gear today with its first two full-length albums. both top that 70-minute limit, so you're going to have your money's worth of cool, rare music to make your friends jealous of.
period three is my own gig. if the mention of that doesn't scare you away, feel free to hear my album Moving Systems. it's bare-bones electronic music with flavor. & it's all in mono for that true lo-fi effect.
surfing secrets made music under the atrox moniker for five years until they found out that there was a metal band called just that--hence the oddball new name. their new record Le bruit qui rend fou will give you every reason to hate the nineties (& every way to piss off your neighbours).
as usual, all this is for free. no scam, just freaking noise. & that's only the beginning. the napalm sessions are coming, & a hell lot more stuff too. god, i'm sick of typing! [note to self: next time, try not to make the site updates at the last minute.]

we have a set date for our next records: halloween day, october 31st. on that day the world will be graced with the surfing secrets collective's debut full-lengther, le bruit qui rend fou. it's nothing less than true absurdist techno to drive you nuts, with lyrics in french just to confuse you more. you know you have to like it.
additionally, it'll also be time for a new period three release, another full-lenghter entitled moving systems, & including the soon-to-be classics blip vacuum & asynchronous data phase. all for free & damn proud of it, too.
on an unrelated note (but what is truly unrelated in this world of relativity?), my computer now has a brand new hard drive, which will allow me to release the extra-noisy, extra-free-jazz first installment of the napalm sessions sooner than i thought--possibly in mid-november or earlier. be prepared, for it might hurt your ears & your frontal lobe too.

hey there people. for each album i just added an "about" page with a little information on what you may find when you download them.
i'm thinking that maybe it would be more convenient if the "mp3 download" pages had a quick song-by-song breakdown. would that be useful or are things just good as they are right now? please email me with your opinions on the matter.

just a little note to say that oeuf korreckt's startling debut ep, Leonard Nimoy, was featured starting yesterday on the most excellent site music4free. be sure to check out that place. for more of dem darned mp3 bands. i know i do.
also, about the no type message board: scott zibble, your friend & mine, wizard with all things perl & cgi, is completing the new version of his bbs script, obsolete bbs, which will remind the oldschooler in each of us of the good old days of bbs'ing on renegade & forum hacks (hell, it even takes keystrokes). as soon as it is finished, a copy will be installed on here for general discussion on arts, technology, & whatever else you may want to talk about. you'll be informed when this happens, but stay on the lookout, 'cause that'll be soon.

there's a new name in the no type block--tracing limelite, master of hyper-condensed electronic havoc of all kinds, has decided to record with us. not only that, but he's thrilled to do so! imagine that.
for the few among you who have no clue who mr. myte is, figure your way out to the quite cryptic official site or to the mp3.com repository (they both feature exclusive songs.)
it looks like we'll be graced with a tracing limelite album or two sometime in the next month or so. joy!
i'm still waiting for aylek trique to send me the cover & misc. info to the upcoming surfing secrets full-lengther. that will most definitely be a blast.
also, i really should make a links page somewhere on this darned site, but until then, be sure to check out the zerius vocoder for all your vocal distortion needs. tell 'em i sent ya.

hey there. here's an update so you don't think we're dead already or something, because you'd be pretty damned wrong.
as a matter of fact, there are currently two new releases in preparation from surfing secrets & period three (& perhaps another from the carwax kings if we're lucky!)
not only that, but the documentary area, which specializes in reissues, is just about to be launched with the two classic teen genocide tapes, now impossible to find anywhere (not that they've ever been easy to find, mind you.)
oh, also. i spent a few hours yesterday working with the <noframes> tags in order to enhance the site for the graphically challenged. it is possible that you encounter some broken links if you're viewing that version of the site. please email me if it happens to you.
onto totally unrelated matters, i have to say that mogwai makes the slint fan that i am very happy.

dave from the audio diner has made the self-titled anaesthesia album his site's "soup of the day". how cool is that?
there's actually quite a few projects going on in the background which we'll tell you about shortly. for now, sit down, relax, & have a sip of our current records before the new stuff catches the virtual shelves at no type drones.
oh, i also added some mp3-related news, but right now it's a tad bit limited... i'll add more to it as things happen...

ahhh, almost a week has passed, & with it, the nervosity of putting up this god damn site. the response so far has been pretty good, & the next batch of records to come out is almost ready & should be made available near the end of the month. expect madness, or worse.
i decided to touch up this page a bit to allow for news items. if this site looks like a regular mp3 site, maybe it will get me some coverage!!@# now all i need is a black background & more photoshop filters.
onto mp3-related news, then: after barely-legal pornography site, are we to see the wake of barely-ethical business practices? after legalized spam, domain holding (well, the whole domain business, actually), now comes a company which claims to have patented the process of selling audio media through the internet & is now suing companies offering such services without paying their "dues".
but hey! perhaps this is all part of a plan to crack down on the big bad legal mp3 sites everywhere that are threatening to take over the poor little music industry, but then what's the point? sites like mp3.com, audiodiner or dimension music do not directly sell audio, they give it out as a promotional tool for selling cd's through mail order distribution.
so the corporate snake's biting its own tail. how smart.
enough ranting. you obviously need to hear music. so go get the freaking records, listen to them, be enlightened, reach satori, & tell your friends about it so they can reach it too. also, feel very very free to comment on what you hear.
more will appear in this space soon. you bet.
