… & as you may have guessed, no type is a part of it!
first & foremost, three shows are likely to be of interest to residents of montreal & quebec city. starting with, yes, this is official, morceaux_de_machines are doing victo! along with VJs éric gagnon (head of la bande vidéo) & boris firquet (from the avatar collective), the duo will be performing at cégep de victoriaville, this may 20 at 00:15. for those who may be interested, there will be a quebec city-victoriaville shuttle service offered. write us if you want to hop in!
for the third year in a row, no type will be present at the famed mutek festival, this time with a live set from Magali Babin & i8u. okay, it’s only half official yet so we’ll get back to you with all the details. another date to watch, & this one is official, is the no type showcase at the suoni per il popolo festival (organised yearly by the casa del popolo folks). on june 11 are featured the talents of Mixel Pixel (back from NYC after opening for books on tape last january) as well as our good friend from b’more, themoonstealingproject, with another band from that area called more dogs. keeping in to our good habits, DJing will be assured by tobias c van Veen… a sure shot way to ensure a great night.
that’s not even it: morceaux_de_machines & Camp will both be featured at the résonances festival, this time in france (more precisely at saint-nazaire, a small coastal town close to nantes). this concert should happen on may 29, but we don’t have all the details yet. so far as m_d_m goes though, they will also be touring across france & belgium around that time. check back in for more!

surely but slowly, we’re adding a couple new labels to our catalogue, all this for your own benefit. today’s the turn of kracfive (colongib, octopus inc, kettel…) & squirrelgirl ((sic), the sleazy listeners), not to mention a selection from our cousin label, empreintes DIGITALes (featuring francis dhomont, paul dolden, john oswald, gilles gobeil…)
more MP3 & CD labels will be added in the coming days, weeks, months… & of course, in the meantime, we continue to work on improving our website & we’re always happy to receive your comments!

they were in our databases & they were on our partner site, internet archive, but they weren’t directly available from this site… until today, that is.
okay, so what’s “no type: annexe” all about, huh? in short, it’s an archive of albums from no type artists, which do not belong to the “official” catalogue but which we wanted to offer for download anyway. live recordings, older experiments, abandoned projects, it’s a bit like a virtual treasure chest. we hope to continue offering you more of this archival material in the coming months.

the site gets better every week. for lack of new material to release right away, we can at least get the older stuff better organised while we’re at it! so, today sees the arrival of kevin m krebs (833-45)’s nishi label to the catalogue. in japanese, “nishi” means “west” &, such is the beauty of it all, kevin is indeed from the (canadian) west.
please note that a good number of older nishi releases are not available yet… this is because they have not been put back online ever since the crash a few months ago. a little patience, they will be back soon we’re sure!

is there anything worse than to ceaselessly hope for a revival of your favourite web site that’s been dormant for months?
okay okay well, we’re back (don’t let that april 1st date fool you!) & that took a hell of a lot of work, & it’s not even finished yet. but most of it’s there & i hope you will enjoy the new place.
so what’s new? first off: The Freest of Radicals Remixed, the compilation that updates our previous compilation The Freest of Radicals, except it’s actually more accessible than the original. go figure.
other than that, we’d like you to purchase (yep yep, purchase, with your very own hard earned money, & isn’t that how life goes) metaXu’s wonderful sophomore CD, Rumors of War: music to break the most unbreakable megalomaniac dictator’s heart in pieces (offer not available to US republican party officials). also available: the very abrasive project from max haiven & jon vaughn, entitled Front. you’ve been warned, winter was rough indeed!
we promise we’ll give you more news soon. really!!! & you know, our server is STABLE now (thanks to the SAT!) so hopefully that’s how our relationship is going to be from now on too! until the next catastrophe, that is. we’re busy preparing new CDs from morceaux_de_machines & kevin m krebs (both due this fall), & we hope to present some “web” surprises until then. in the meantime, go download all of our catalogue, & when you’ll have enough, invest all of your savings on our CDs. that’s what it is to be an aaahhtist.
thanks for being around, love ya!
