the most convenient way, it seems, to genre-peg anaesthesia’s eponymous recording is to call it ambient. at once the word either recalls useless forays into one-chord (one-dimensional?) universe accompanied with new-agey pretenses & patchouli scents. but that’s not the case here. eric keebler, kaia wong & adam wyatt’s music is always fluid, & to shrug it off as background music because of an inaccurate denomination would be a mistake.

anaesthesia’s take on ambient music is at once twisted & thrilling — it has the presence & the sheer inventiveness to keep you involved in the ongoing sonic research. it is a compelling, experimentative work of art that will leave you wishing for more.

Futility (paroles)

somewhere i have the necessary parts
knife please — i need a diversion — i need a virgin
send her freight, bill, and bill to sender
what’d you give your sister for christmas?
meningitis
meningitis is entertaining for all concerned
we find more lines in social circles
do you care to dance, martini? we’ll skank to anything!
anyone care for a cheerful fruit popsicle?
strawberry coated hamster forever
peg’s bored so let’s have ham on tuesday… smorgasboard
peg board is my friend
peg board is everybody’s friend

Kaia Wong
