One of the first No Type releases & also, hands down, our most popular release ever with over 20,000 downloads so far! This 5-track album goes from the seriously epic space age ambient improv of Part 1 & Part 2 to the baffling Hammerhead screamadelia of Futility.
EF Keebler: digital synth on tracks 1, 4, 5; pvc viol on track 2; electronic drums on tracks 2, 3; choral texture on track 4. Kaia Wong: electric violin on tracks 1, 5; vocals, rhythm track on track 2; digital synth on track 3. J Adam Wyatt: trumpet on track 3; vocals, percussion, choral texture on track 4.
the most convenient way, it seems, to genre-peg anaesthesia’s eponymous recording is to call it ambient. at once the word either recalls useless forays into one-chord (one-dimensional?) universe accompanied with new-agey pretenses & patchouli scents. but that’s not the case here. eric keebler, kaia wong & adam wyatt’s music is always fluid, & to shrug it off as background music because of an inaccurate denomination would be a mistake.
anaesthesia’s take on ambient music is at once twisted & thrilling — it has the presence & the sheer inventiveness to keep you involved in the ongoing sonic research. it is a compelling, experimentative work of art that will leave you wishing for more.
