Balai Mécanique is the supergroup of the Montréal Free Improv scene, featuring six of Montréal’s wildest musicians: ferocious Will Glass on drums, crazed Jesse Levine on keyboards, relentless Sam Shalabi on electric guitar, exquisite Thierry Amar on doublebass, magical Jacques Gravel on trombone, and Philémon, perhaps Montréal’s most interesting saxophone player. Needless to say, they are a riot. This group has been created in 2001 with the avowed intent to “keep it big.” Their live set is an uncontrollable maelstrom of rare intensity. → Full bio
