straight from Winnipeg's experimental electronic scene, vitaminsforyou has been exploring the rich relationship that exists between narration, meta-narration and microstructure in music since 1998. Grazing the fine line between logic and emotion, allowing the microscopic to give way to a provocative, compelling and gratifying melody, vitaminsforyou has been developing sound and music for theatre, dance, film, video, animation and prose across Canada working with artists in a variety of genres from electro-acoustic sound designers to some of Canada's darling pop practitioners. Recent performances include an invitation to play at Montreal's Mutek Festival, Toronto's Canadian Electronic Ensembles Festival, Saskatoon's Digidome Festival of contemporary sound, music, and digital video, and Winnipeg's Send and Receive Festival. vitaminsforyou has also opened for such acts as The Beans from Vancouver, Spookey Ruben from Toronto, Kepler from Ottawa, My Education from Texas, Tim Hecker from Ottawa, Mitchell Akiyama and Desormais from Montreal, SND from England, coingutter from Vancouver, The Notwist from Germany, Ghislain Poirier from Montreal, Themselves from Oakland, Polmo Polpo from Toronto, Holzkopf from Saskatoon, and duul_drv from Winnipeg. A recent move to Montreal in 2002 has vitaminsforyou currently working on projects with Juno-winning singer/songwriter Mike Feuerstack (Wooden Stars, Snailhouse), Greg MacPherson (G7 Welcoming Committee), Jay Churko from Transistor Sound & Lighting Co., poet Kevin Matthews (Juice Publishing), animator Julia Pung, songtress Emm Gryner, artist Sook-Yin Lee, and choreographers Andrew Tay and Dana Michael. look for a new full-length on the Montreal-based label intr_version that was released early November 2003 and a remix EP with exclusive new material and a Venetian Snares Remix coming soon. As well as an exclusive new track with Mike Feuerstack on an intr_version compilation Saturday morning empires out now. Websites: 2004 "Churchill" on Quebec Emergent 2004 |
